East Lothian Holyrood Candidate - Euan Davidson

Euan Davidson

Euan Davidson

I was brought up in nearby Loanhead, recently qualified as a social worker and am currently employed as a case worker for Christine Jardine MP. I have previously worked in social care, child protection and numerous charities. I have also served as president of the Scottish Young Liberals.

I've always worked or volunteered in roles that help and empower others from working in child protection to a domestic violence charity and in a refugee camp.

East Lothian is an incredible place and it deserves better than the Nationalist obsession with the constitution and invisible representation. As we begin to see an end of "lockdown" we need to shift to a recovery phase that must not be a "return to usual".

We need a greener, fairer and more balanced vision for our communities. I''ve worked in the public and voluntary sector with those facing deprivations and discrimination. Our public services are crumbling and a lasting impact of this pandemic is making existing inequalities worse. I have the passion and knowledge to be a strong voice on these issues.

South of Scotland Region - top of list - Catriona Bhatia

Catriona Bhatia

Catriona Bhatia

I have experience as a European, Westminster and Holyrood candidate in previous elections. I served as a Senior Councillor in the Scottish Borders for 14 years. I run my own small business.

With the triple whammy of Covid-19, Brexit and the endless IndyRef2 debate we need to build our local economies anew not return to the old ways. That's from fishing to farming, tourism to textiles. Our natural enviornment is a strengh we must use to support a sustainable, circular economy to help us achieve our climate obligations.

For too long social, educational, health and economic inequalities have become entrenched in our country. We need innovative and sometimes interventionist measures to give our young people every opportunity to reach their full potential in life. We must also support the elderly and vulnerable to ensure they get the highest quality of care.

Our region needs improved connectivity, faster broadband, improved rail and road connections, safe cycle ways. We must also improve connections between Government and our Communities along with public, private and voluntary organisations. If we can get the South of Scotland connected then improving our economy and reducing inequalities is within our grasp.
