My name is Ben Morse. I'm in my thirties and I moved to Port Seton in 2019 with my fiancée, Lucy. While I'm very much a newcomer (born and raised in Monmouthshire in South Wales and came north in 2008 to do a degree at the University of Edinburgh which has since become my employer), Lucy grew up in Longniddry where her parents still stay.

I'm under no illusions about our local and even national chances and challenges at present and I'd very much describe myself as a paper candidate only at this by-election. That said, I firmly believe that it is important to offer locals the chance to vote Lib Dem - even if only as second preference - and to break the fervent Unionist vs Nationalist discourse which, perplexingly, seems to permeate even local politics. Political campaigning should be about issues, policies, and constructive discussion rather than mudslinging and exhortations to 'vote for me to keep the Nats/Tories/Reds out'.
